Madison And The Happiness Jar

It is an establishment that fosters togetherness and philanthropic opportunities and has the potential to depart a optimistic, everlasting mark on those who experience it. Cornell’s chapter of Zeta Beta Tau fraternity has just lately been disciplined after holding a sex contest known as a “pig roast,” referencing the weight of women the brothers slept with. Brothers obtained factors for sleeping with heavy women— the heavier she was, the more points earned. AXO deserves a punishment for that one regretful evening, however the penalties our members are facing, together with the shortage of help we’ve received throughout the investigation, are unjustified. On the opposite aspect, after months of ready, the beginning of bonding arrived for the brothers of almost each fraternity at Lehigh at the beginning of February.

The Greek System at Lehigh is a blight. There is only one means for Lehigh to save tons of its popularity and to provide a safe learning environment for its college students and that is to dissolve all fraternities and sororities as soon as and for all. As a colonizing member, and former president of the Theta Chi chapter of Alpha Chi Omega, I am so saddened to hear that my sorority is in such bother.

Police Seek Missing Woman Last Seen in Hampton, NH Hampton Police Police are in search of a lacking girl final seen in Hampton, New Hampshire. Twenty-two-year-old Madison Schmitt was final seen Saturday night on the seaside close to Bernie’s Beach Bar, the Hampton Police Department mentioned Sunday night time. Schmitt is described as being about 5’7…

Blaming the Greek system for issues pervasive in society generally is misguided and naive. If you can’t accept the Greek system at Lehigh, you shouldn’t have gone there. There are plenty other non-Greek colleges you can have chosen from. Just because you don’t prefer it, aren’t a half of it, or misunderstand it doesn’t imply it shouldn’t exist. I’m saddened that the carelessness and thoughtlessness of these younger women have endangered the chapter I labored so exhausting to build. I don’t want to bash the young woman who wrote this piece, as I think about she’s having a really powerful time on campus now-I definitely don’t assume this helped AXO’s case-and as a nearly 50 year old, I won’t bully her. But I’m troubled by the entire lack of accountability that she appears to be accepting for her sorority, and deflecting the blame to make AXO seem like a scapegoat.

All of those comments mirror awfully on the scholars of this university that they care so much about an Editor’s Desk post it’s not even a published article. You all just need to find something to be butthurt about, Madison Schmitt, no concern something else more thrilling will occur within the week and everyone will be pissed about that. Leave this poor lady alone she was given an task and he or she did a killer job.

AXO’s punishment is not indicative of inequality between Greek women and men, however it’s representative of how accountability is upheld by the college and nationals. Judging by the author’s arguments, AXO’s ‘new member education’ has fallen quick on accountability, accountability, and humility. B&W management, please get remove this steaming pile of garbage that the authors believes to be a sound protection.

From what I’m seeing in the comments, the scavenger hunt was more than simply “careless and stupid”. The bias in this article is blatantly apparent. They haven’t even been via an investigation, let alone a hearing or sanctions.

Based on the knowledge gleaned from the comments, I would imagine that this story goes to get some traction now. I anticipate it to appear in LehighValleyLive, and the Morning Call, adopted by nationwide, even world, coverage. If true, the objects [pii_pn_2b57d1aea006358a7a70] on the scavenger hunt list are appalling and the women of this sorority are hopefully not consultant of most Lehigh students. If I had been a job recruiter, I might need some questions for any member of this chapter of AXO.

They are an anachronism of days previous and should be relegated to the ash heap of historical past. That an organized group of women and men find it essential to humiliate, abuse and, sure, even kill their fellow “brothers” and “sisters” defies comprehension. No quantity of fundraising, charity events, dance-a-thons or different good works could make up for the atrocities committed for the privilege of wearing a couple of Greek letters on your clothing. Follow the lead of extra enlightened institutions like Williams, Middlebury, Bowdoin and Colby and ban them completely. It’s not only AXO who has a legacy, it is every fraternity and sorority at Lehigh.
